A Message to Trafford’s Jewish Community |
||
|
Over recent weeks, we have increased visible patrols and maintained a dedicated policing plan to support and reassure our communities throughout the High Holy Days. I recognise that events both across the UK and internationally continue to cause understandable concern and distress within the Jewish community.
Many of you will have seen reports that two men have been charged with terrorism offences following a Counter Terrorism Policing investigation into an alleged plot targeting the Jewish community within the Manchester area. I would like to reiterate that there is no information to suggest any ongoing threat to the public in connection with this matter. However, I fully appreciate that reports of this nature can cause significant concern and uncertainty. I would encourage everyone to remain vigilant and to report anything that appears suspicious or causes concern.
Although the High Holy Days are now drawing to a close, I want to reassure you that our commitment to your safety and security remains unwavering.
Over recent weeks, many members of Trafford's Jewish community have taken the time to speak with my officers, sharing both their concerns and their appreciation for the increased police presence. These conversations are invaluable. They enable us to listen, understand local issues and ensure that our policing response reflects the needs of the communities we serve.
We will continue to maintain a visible policing presence across Trafford, tackling crime, responding robustly to those who seek to cause harm, and working closely with our key partners, including local faith leaders, Shomrim and the Community Security Trust.
Our dedicated Wildstone patrols continue to provide additional support alongside neighbourhood officers and play an important role in identifying and responding to antisemitic hate crime, while offering reassurance and support to those affected. Our officers remain acutely aware of the concerns held by many within the community and will continue to work closely with Trafford's Jewish residents to ensure they feel safe, supported and heard.
Please do not hesitate to approach our officers. Whether you have a concern, wish to report an incident, or simply have information you would like to share, we are here to listen and assist.
Finally, I would like to thank you for the trust, support and partnership you continue to show Greater Manchester Police. Strong relationships between the police and the communities we serve are fundamental to keeping people safe and maintaining public confidence.
By continuing to work together, we can help ensure that Trafford remains a safe, welcoming and inclusive borough for everyone. Thank you for your continued support.
Inspector Matthew Harvey
